Our dog Sara ate a lot of steak the other day. Like 3-5 full steaks. Needless to say, we are (and she is) paying for it now.
I guess it’s better than eating whole sticks of butter- which she has done twice now. But we love our Sara.

We went to Toronto and the African Lion Safari a few weeks ago. Here are some photos of our trip. After clicking on one, you can use your left and right arrows to flip between next/previous images.
We have made our plans to be married on May 20, 2011 at Zuccarro’s Banquet Hall in Chesterfield. This happened to be the best place between my family (Port Huron) and Christina’s family (Fraser) and it will be an outside wedding.
In other news, I have made some much-needed changes to the website so that it is easier for Christina and I to start updating it. There has been a real lack of posts since January, so I made it possible for Christina to log in herself and start adding her own content to the site.
So check back every once in a while. We will mostly just post things about the wedding but also some random stuff here and there. Should be fun.
Disguised as a “just because” weekend getaway, I had no idea what was in store. The plan was to go to the Port Huron Chilly Festival and just relax. I was more than excited to spend time with my love. When we got to downtown Port Huron, we walked around a bit before Erik approached a horse drawn carriage asking if they were waiting for someone. I thought the question was odd, but the lady responded with “yes, Erik and Christina”. I was floored that he took the time to plan out a carriage ride for us! It was so thoughtful and I was happy. The carriage let us off at the front of the building where they were doing ice sculpture demonstrations and had some on display. Looking back, I was totally oblivious to what was to come.
While I was taking a picture of the event’s sign, Erik told me to come and look at a sculpture. I even think I told him to wait a second! When I saw it, a sculpture of a man proposing to a woman (see below), I thought “oh, this is nice” and saw him getting down on one knee. Even at that moment I didn’t comprehend what was going on, I thought he was just imitating it to be funny. But when his hand went into his pocket to pull out a little box my world went into slow motion as he asked “Christina, will you marry me?”
Instantly I was overcome with joy and started crying so much that my glasses got foggy. There, in front of everyone, I told him of course I would marry him. There is nobody in the world who I love more. For the next few minutes we held each other, as the group of on-lookers clapped for us. I was still crying and trying to comprehend what just happened. It didn’t sink in until I said “We are going to get married!” and I understood. This is real… this is not a dream.
We then found ourselves at a nice little Italian restaurant, where we celebrated with champagne and food. After settling down at the Sage House Bed and Breakfast, Erik took me out for another surprise- a small get-together with some of his family at the Thomas Edison Inn. A song dedication lead us into our first dance as fiancés.
I love Erik down to the very core. Ever since we met I’ve had this feeling like he understood me and we just somehow fit together perfectly. He is my best friend, my comedic relief, my comfort, my artist, my aid, my everything. Sometimes I find myself feeling like this is unreal…. Then looking at the gorgeous ring I am reminded that this is true, and our love is true. Knowing that we have taken the first step to beginning our joined life is so exciting. I do not want or wish for anything more, I just want to be with Erik for the rest of my life.
Christina is the single most amazing person in my life, and I am happy to announce that she has accepted my proposal! I am very excited to spend the rest of my life trying to be good enough to even deserve her. I love you Christina!
We will update the site later with some pictures and other fun things.
